Blue Jeans Reprise

Here’s my own telling of an ancient story, in homage to that lil’ ole band from Texas.

At this point in OUR story, 3ManCult is a self-producing band, who gets by/high with a little help from each other and friends. So THAT is the point our total song quality has made it to. Our shit is not up to par by most standards. I get it, and appreciate your interest nonetheless. We play what we want and play it the way we like:  Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead.

This song is basically 12-bar blues in Em, with two lead breaks, a very specific ending, and our own tweaks to execution and arrangement – i.e. “watch me for the changes” – I’m singing and playing (layered) guitars, former bandmate is on drums, friend / guitar / mixing engineer is filling in on bass.

The verses are straight ahead in your face, the lead breaks are more open and jazzy, so that the lead (guitar) can really stand out.

We’re specifically asking for LEAD GUITAR in the TWO lead breaks as follows:

  • At the foundational level, the “ideal tone” for lead guitar would be a “better” (cleaner tighter) version of the existing main electric guitar tone – take that FWIW
  • Lead break arrangements are intentionally backed-off so that the lead guitar can stand out in the mix without needing excessive volume or pyrotechnic displays to make a point
  • In fact, there are TWO lead breaks, again so that the lead guitar can develop and grow, not shoot the entire wad on one solo
  • In both cases, the lead guitar solo should make this statement:  “Yeah – what he said, but it happened like this…”
  • So the goal is more toward variation and theme than pure free-form expression

We’re also asking for the next evolution of BASS LINE throughout the song.

The bassline is our main electric guitarist and mixing engineer, and we all love what he came up with at the core.

Note how similar it is to the walking bassline in “Lowrider” by Warr. We want to keep that vibe with a real (groovy) bass player.

For that matter, vocals could be improved as well…

Thanks in advance for your contributions!

Any questions, let me know PM to the song posting on CL or Kompoz.com

Ps. Collaborations are attribution only because 3ManCult music will ultimately be released as NFTs.

(If you have a crypto-currency wallet and know what Ethereum is, we can communicate on that privately as well.)
